Autism Spectrum Disorder
Affirming support for autistic individuals navigating a neurotypical world.
A different way of experiencing the world.
Autism is a neurodevelopmental difference that affects the way people experience and interact with the world. Autistic individuals have distinct ways of thinking, communicating, processing sensory information and forming relationships — none of which are deficits, but which can create significant challenges in environments designed for neurotypical people.
Autism is not a disorder to be fixed or cured. It is a neurological difference that shapes how a person experiences life. At Karasick Psychology we take an affirming, strengths-based approach — working with autistic individuals to reduce distress, build on strengths and develop strategies that support thriving on their own terms.
We work with autistic adolescents and adults — including those who are newly diagnosed, late diagnosed, or who have spent years masking their autistic traits in order to fit into neurotypical spaces. We also support individuals who are in the process of seeking a formal diagnosis and want to understand their experiences better.

Autism Assessment
Seeking an autism diagnosis — whether for yourself or your teenager — is an important step toward understanding and support. We offer comprehensive psychoeducational assessments for autism in adolescents and adults including those seeking a late diagnosis.
Late Diagnosis
Receiving an autism diagnosis later in life can be a complex and deeply emotional experience. For many it brings profound relief — finally having an explanation for a lifetime of feeling different, struggling in ways that others don’t seem to, and never quite fitting in despite genuinely trying.
It can also bring grief — for the years spent without understanding or support, for the ways masking has cost you, and for the version of yourself that might have existed with earlier recognition. Both experiences are valid and both deserve space.
At Karasick Psychology we provide a safe, informed space to process a late diagnosis — whatever it brings up. This work can be genuinely transformative.
Affirming Support
Working with your brain, not against it.
Therapy for autistic individuals at Karasick Psychology is collaborative, affirming and strengths-based. We do not aim to change who you are — we work with you to develop strategies that reduce distress, support emotional regulation and help you navigate a neurotypical world without losing yourself in the process.
Support may address anxiety, burnout, sensory overwhelm, social navigation, emotional regulation, identity and the process of making sense of a late diagnosis. Sessions are tailored entirely to your needs, communication style and goals. There is no pressure to make eye contact, sit in any particular way or communicate in any specific manner. This is your space.
